About Me

Hello there! This blog is run by Marianne Bezaire, a computational neuroscientist in Boston, MA. I obtained my bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from University of Southern California in 2005 and my PhD from the University of California Irvine in 2014 with a focus on a detailed computer model of the hippocampus, a part of the brain involved in learning, memory, and spatial navigation. I then embarked on a postdoctoral fellowship at Boston University, focusing on modeling a nearby part of the brain called the entorhinal cortex, which is also involved in spatial navigation.

As I’ve pursued my education and training, I’ve had many opportunities to reflect on both the constructive and destructive aspects of STEM and academia from a student’s perspective. I’ve decided to share my thoughts for your benefit and feedback. Please enjoy!
